The other areas of the Creating Christ Connected Community’s mission included the sponsorship of a Syrian Refugee family and a new playground set.
Peace Lutheran Church recently received Runner-Up in the national Interfaith Power & Light Cool Congregation contest in the Energy Savings category. Congratulations and what a gift to your community!
Peace Lutheran Church in Bowling Green recently installed solar panels along the south side of their building –“they look great and they are operating great!” Using a web based application, the church can access productivity reports and view real time energy activity. Peace expects up to 25% utility savings to be applied toward other ministries!
This renewal energy and conservation project was made possible by a generous behest of long time neighbors of the congregation. The installation of the solar panels is one of three projects undertaken to promote the churches mission of Creating Christ Connected Community. This mission “proclaims God’s resourcefulness and generosity–by embracing and practicing good creation care; lowering our carbon footprint to reduce its negative impact on the environment, and promoting Peace’s calling to the larger community in a positive and inviting manner.”
Practicing good creation care is being accomplished at Peace church in four ways:
Through an ongoing partnership with Ohioans for Sustainable Change and its Energy Stewards™ program, the congregation monitors and analyzes its energy use and implements smart energy consumption;
